mpv has more features i admit, but mplayer works faster, for example
i can easily play 4k movie on mplayer, but on mpv it has frame drops...

2ch client? try this but its for KDE bloatware

MPV is best for overall playing of videos.
Kodi is good for dedicated streaming/playing video, like on a Raspberry Pi
VLC is for anything the rest can't play.
