[Discussion] Why are textboards dead outside of Japan? [Serious]

Whenever people think textboards, 2ch comes to mind. even when world4ch still existed, not many used it and when they did, it was full of jap posts along with autistic spam

Fast forward today and you see the average western text board gets like 5 posts a day at most.
Is it safe to say that textboards there will never be popular?
