The books and articles describe a kind of alternative historical universe, one where Japan fought entirely nobly in World War II and in which its alleged
atrocities were invented by Chinese and Korean propagandists. The accounts differ sharply from those of mainstream historians, both in Japan and abroad.
One piece of literature that was featured for years was an essay by a former air force general, Toshio Tamogami, which won a prize in an APA-sponsored
contest in 2008. In it, Mr. Tamogami claimed that Japan had been duped into attacking the United States at Pearl Harbor in 1941, in a plot he said was
hatched by Communists inside the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The book was full of all kinds of absurd claims like the Nanking massacre was invented by the Chinese, the comfort women of WWII were
happy, well paid prostitutes who enjoyed playing sports in their free time, and a "sorry not sorry" explanation of Pearl Harbor and the claim
that the US blew up the USS Arizona themselves and blamed Japan.

The ceo of this hotel writes a book that he does not admit the truth of Nanking Massacre and Attack on Pearl Harbor which is put in every room ,

The single room was very small even by Japanese standards and, though the staff were polite and helpful, the image of the hotel suffers from the
presence of political literature, namely a couple of books of "revisionist" Japanese history placed in every room (along with, as is usual in Japanese
business hotels, a guide to the adult channels). One has an English translation so you can read all about their take on Japan's colonial past, the attack on
Pearl Harbor, and Japan's "defence" against "Caucasians". In particular, if you are American, Chinese or Korean, I recommend you stay elsewhere.

The book, describing Japan's attack at the Pearl Harbor as a conspiracy of the American side and depicting the "comfort women" as "prostitutes," grossly distorts
historical truth.
The author of the book also deliberately ignored solid evidence proving the atrocities committed by the invading Japanese army in Nanjing, including testimonies
made by survivors and photos and records taken by witnesses from Europe and the United States.

Apart from the location I have nothing postive to say about this place.
Room was smaller than any business hotel I have stayed it, it was cluttered with items so impossible to put your own things anywhere.The bed sank as soon as
you sat on it, so felt like you were sleeping on the floor.
All the items had the owners so called wordsof wisdom, but even worse was the book in the room with his opinions which can only be deemed as racist.
I would never stay in this hotel or any APA place again due to the owners extremist and racist views and I will advise anyone not to support someone like this

On the surface it is an average business hotel, down the street from Roppongi, so it is quite convenient and low budget. The service was efficient and nice.
The bed is too soft and the hallways very hot, so a lot of heat goes into the room. I was there in winter so I could open the windows. It was small and smoke
drifted in
to my nonsmoking room. All that might be expected in a Japanese budget hotel.
Now for the really big issue: the reading material in each hotel room, in the place where you expect maps, tv schedules etc., is very nationalistic. Some of it is in
English. I have never stayed in a hotel with such overt propaganda staring you in the face. I probably can't say more about this in a review but if this concerns
you, you can find find out about it in wikipedia.

What "impressed" me was the radical right wing reading material (a book and a in-house magazine) promoting distorted history of Japan and its neighbouring
countries and aggressive political views which I, as a Hongkonger, found very offensive and uncomfortable.
I would not recommend APA Hotel group to the travellers who are concerned with this kind of thing.

“Right Wing Propaganda in Room ”

The lobby is filled with Chinese and Korean tourists and the room is filled with extreme right wing propaganda. Very anti USA, Chinese and Korean literature
placed in rooms. Not fun reading... I came here to relax after a hard day working and don't want some right wing wacko's views in my room.

Two stars for this hotel because it was safe, warm, had a bed & shower and the staff were relatively friendly. Otherwise, for nearly $200 US per night (price
jacked because of the Snow Festival?) it is a serious dump. There's black mould in the bathroom, a sewage-smell wafting up through the shower drain, peeling
paint throughout the main room and the lamp shade was bashed in. The clincher is the book of pro-government essays left in the room (in English and Japanese)
entitled "Japan Pride: A proposal for revival," written by historial revisionist Toshio Motoya. You can buy the copy for about $10 USD mind you.

“Ultra right wing propaganda your room”

The room is 10sqm, including bathroom. So you can imagine how small the space is.
And even that is not the worst of it, we were horrified to find ultra right wing propaganda written by the hotel chain founder under a pen name in the room.
These books are anti American, blame the invasion of China on the Chinese, denied Nanking Massacre and use of comfort women by the Japanese army etc etc.

I don't often write reviews but felt compelled to after finding some of the literature on display in this hotel. Initially I couldn't believe what I came across - after all,
this was a well-regarded and reviewed hotel chain. In every APA hotel room, there are books describing extreme right-wing nationalist accounts of historical
events with a focus on WWII crimes in China, Korea, etc., either denying, downplaying, or justifying them in the most insensitive and racist manner (I had to stop
reading by this point). Aside from the fact that these views are horribly offensive to humanity, the hotel has the audacity to actively perpetuate these views (the
books apparently are even on sale at the front desk) and it appears they have largely gotten away with it. I did a quick search on APA hotels and outside of a
handful of reviews citing the same thing, it's largely unknown and ignored. It

Even by Manhattan or Tokyo standards, the room was ridiculously tiny. But most disturbing: it was stocked with right-wing political literature by the president of
the APA corporation, Toshio Motoya (pen-name "Seiji Fuji"), that included revisionist apologies for Japan's role in WW2.

Whilst the hotel is fine the reading material in the rooms printed by the owner of the APA hotel chain is disturbing. The books provided for guests attempt to
rewrite history to deny past atrocities and war crimes and calls for rearmament to re-establish imperial Japan. Normally I take most things in my stride but reading
this material really made me sad and I will avoid using APA hotels in the future.

I would give this hotel a zero if I could. We booked two different reservations for two separate visits. On the first visit we got the king bed we requested. When we
returned for the second reservation, they
gave us a double queen. When we asked to be switched to a king, like our original visit they said they can't do anything for us, that we would have to contact our
booking agency. So we did and the booking agency said they had nothing to do with the room types. So we asked the agency to contact the hotel and let them
know that they don't make room adjustments. So the agency spoke to the hotel manager and then told me it would be an additional charge. So we agreed to it
and when we got to the counter to pay the fee doubled
And the manager wouldn't do anything to help or accommodate us.
We are extremely disappointed!!!
Definitely not coming back or recommending

This APA hotel provides a series of ridiculous books wrote by their CEO, who distorts and denies the truth of history, including the Nanking Massacre and the
Korean comfort women and so on. This hotel will never get any respect from others if they don't remove the books. And the profits they earned from you will go
into the pocket of the shameless person who disrespects the victims in the WWII. Shame on this APA hotel. Never ever stay there.

We booked this hotel based on the location. I have never been in a hotel where the rooms are so small. They do not have closets. I tried to cancel my second
night but it was impossible because of the cancellation policy....

By law, you do not have to give up your passport for photocopying if you are a tourist and further if you are a permanent resident of Japan like myself you do not have to present one, period.
Unfortunately, the racist scum working the night shift at the front desk would not give me my room key unless I presented a passport.
I'm sorry when you travel within the country you live in, you don't carry your passport with you, right?!
Long story short, terrible staff, horribly aging room and building and will NEVER go back!
This place was a last resort to begin with....
